Dynamic block with rotate and move command interacting strangely

Hello!

I'm trying to set up a section line that I can rotate, flip and move the end part of the line.

I'm nearly there, but I am having some issues with the rotate attribute stuffing up the direction of the move attribute if it's rotated away from the angle the block was first created at.

I want to 'lock' the direction of the movement of the end of the section line so that it stays in line with the top regardless of whether the block has been rotated previously. (I hope that makes sense!)

Thanks

Anna.

Remove the move action from the rotate action's selection set.

I would use a polar parameter and polar stretch rather than the separate rotate/move.  I'm also curious why you have the circle/attribute block separate.

Hi Libbya,

The last time I used autocad, dynamic blocks didn't exist 😝 so I just set
everything up the way we used to when I was doing my internship.

Is there any chance you could give me a step-by-step run through of what
you mean when you say polar parameter and stretch? So that I can give it a
go myself.

Thanks, Anna

Here's how I'd set up the block:

Eeek, that's full on. Thank you. I would never have worked that out myself.

I must admit though, I am struggling to see exactly what you are selecting at each step and why. Also, my editor looks quite different to yours, so following along is a bit tricky - I can't work out how to add to an existing action selection, as I don't have access to right click (using a macbook without a mouse).

I have adjusted the flip line as you did, and added the polar stretch to the unannotated end of the section line, but from the point where you add the chained point without a grip I'm pretty well lost.

I'm going to keep trying and have a scratch around the internet to see what I can find. I guess this is more a lack of foundation knowledge on the topic rather than anything else 😊

I haven't used an Apple computer since the mid-80s.  I can't really help regarding differences in display or selection.  Make sure the screencast is fullscreen and pause often is the best I can suggest.  Not having a right-click menu would have me completely at a loss.
