Create snap point on custom block

Hello,

Very limited knowledge of AutoCAD.

How do I create constraints on nodes (point tool?) on a custom block? I want these point here so I can snap my tubing lines to them in the same position each time. I want to create a coincident between the point and the bottom side of the rectangle and a linear offset between the point and the left (and right) edge. The linear dimension button doesn't work for this. Am I going about this the right way?

Thanks,

Harvey

Is the attached what you wanted? The circles (they can be deleted) are only there to show you the positions of the points.

I want to create two nodes where I can grab this thing and move it about and snap lines to in the model at these two points:

The block is just the rectangle and the text. The other vertical lines are lines I've drawn in the model after I've placed the block. How do I create nodes on my block I can attach lines in my model to?

Cheers,

Harvey

You can either use my block, or if the nodes don't move put them in your block and position them where you want and then when you are outside the block use the NODE SNAP (see the image below

So how do I create the nodes in the first place? I tried using the POINT tool which allowed me to snap to them with lines in the model:

But then if I move the block the line doesn't remain constrained to it:

When I try to use the coincident constraint tool it doesn't detect the point in the block?

So how do I make a point/node that I can constrain things to?

Cheers,

Harvey

Constraints only work in blocks they do not work outside of blocks.

You have to select the block and the line to have them move together, or put the line in the block to start with.

Ok, thanks you. Just getting to grips with AutoCAD and it is strange that you can constrain things to shapes that are not blocks but not the blocks themselves.
