Welcome to the forums

Anywhere in model space just RIGHT CLICK

Now move down to QUICK SELECT and click it

Once there where it says OBJECT TYPE it will say MULTIPLE.

Change MULTIPLE to BLOCK REFERENCE

The list below will change. Choose NAME. You will need to scroll down the list to select it.

Make sure OPERATOR say EQUALS.

Where it says VALUE choose the name of your block and click on ok.

Now at the command line it will say something like

8 item(s) selected.

Thanks for support.

Is there any chances to get block count of all blocks with one command?

Your method is not giving desired result for blocks inside block.

THanks,

Ketan

If you are looknig for blocks inside a block

First go into the block using the block editor and then follow the instructions again

Since Quick select is menu there is no way of automating the block counting to example: Script or macro.

This is the only way of doing it, that is if your limited to LT like me.

If you have the full version you should look into LISP-routines, I think there might even be an express tool or something for it.

A nested block is not referenced in a drawing until you have exploded the top block or inserted the nested block separetely.

So no, there is no satisfying way in Autocad LT to effectively count nested blocks.

If you are using AutoCAD (not LT), then try the BCOUNT (Express Tool).

Let me refine my question again.

Say for Example, I have three blocks defined in specific drawing as below:

1. Circle

2. Square

3. Combined (This block contains a line along with two blocks Circle and Square)

If I would insert Circle and Combined block in Drawing, What will be the block count of Square block?

Thanks in advance.

Ketan

Accepted solution

You cannot count a block within a block in LT

LT is a stripped down version of its parent program.

For example AutoCAD LT does not have the ability to use Lisp and other manipulative programmaming. In the case of AutoCAD LT; 3D capabilities and creating Constraints are also not available.

Unless BCOUNT works for you or you can find a Lisp or other routine that will read nested Blocks there is no other solution.

Google your query as well or look in the Customizations Forums to see what is offered there. I'm pretty sure this has been solved before.

This method counts all blocks with the same name but what if you just want to count for a certain area? I used to be able to select and count and now I only get a total count. Very frustrating. There also was some "ATT..." command that I forgot and cannot seem to find anymore. Please advise.

Hello

Explore the quick select options (apply to)

Might also try the "filter" command
