Action buttons missing in dynamic blocks

I've noticed since I went from Civil 3D 2018 to 2020 and now 2022 that my action buttons are missing when I open up my dynamic blocks. I can get them back when I select the parameter and change something in the Properties palette. Something like toggling something like Show Properties or Number of Grips. The action buttons will then appear but I'm sure there is a command or setting that can be set. Has anyone experienced this and solved the problem before?

Something similar in the later version of Civil 3D is: if I have a wipeout in the block then I will have to go into the dynamic block and set the draworder on the wipeout to the back. It will set itself to the front most times, requiring me to set it to the back. Any solutions to this strange occurance?

Post an example block. Also post a screenshot showing the properties menu (Ctrl+1)

Attached are the screen shots. One is showing the solution after toggling the parameters in the Properties Palette.

Can you record yourself in a video to show us your issues? IN the recording bring up ABOUT command first so we can confirm your updates too.

Use this free recorder if you do not already have it https://knowledge.autodesk.com/community/screencast

TIA

Unfortunately I'm not in an environment where I can record my problem. Hopefully the screenshots I posted above will help find a solution though.

No worries, it looks like you and I were posting about the same time.

Show us a screenshot of your ABOUT command pop-up please: I see no issue in plain AutoCAD 2022 here

At the command line type BACTIONBARMODE. Change the value to 1.

Also those "graphical boxes" are just the visual equivalent of the lighting bolts with text you can see in the image below

Mine is already set at 1. I see setting it to 0 turns on the dynamic lightning bolt. When I switch it back, I do not get the intended buttons. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Actually I stand corrected. Switching BACTIONBARMODE to 0 and then back to 1 does show the buttons. If nothing more than a timesaver, this is a better fix than selecting the parameters and toggling in the Properties Palette.

You're talking about the display of the actions themselves within block editor?

Try switching BACTIONBARMODE to 0 (my preferred setting) and then set back to 1 if you prefer that.  Be aware that a setting of 0 allows you to add actions to the selection sets of other actions which can cause some surprising results if you don't understand how that works.

Is your LT updated with the latest patch. Unfortunately I can't tell if that is the problem as I only have LT2016, but it switches between lightning bolt and box perfectly fine here

My Civil 3D is updated to the latest patched version. When I toggle the command it works as you describe it so thanks for that suggestion. I guess I'm asking if there is something to make it work automatically when I open beditor for a dynamic block without having to toggle the command? It worked as intended in versions before Civil 3D 2020 but not in versions since.

Just as an update to this solution, I leave my BACTIONBARMODE variable set to 0 now. It will always show the lightning bolt but will also always allow you to use your dynamic features without toggling back and forth to try when trying to get the toolbar feature to show up.. An easier solution once you get used to seeing the different display option.
