Hello,
I'm trying to extract text from a .dwg file and importing it into excel. I do not have autrocad.
Is this even possible? Are there any other ways of taking a table from a .dwg file and importing it into excel?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Am I able to group the text together? Right now I am using "list" to get each line of text individually and copying and pasting it to excel.
Not really: see in AutoCAD you have three types of "text": single line (as the name implies, each line is unique), Mtext (paragraph style) and attributes (which can be one of the other). The viewer does not have the tools to try and grab all the variations to export, or to let you copy/paste, more than one of these at a time (and no ability to convert them like AutoCAD).
Hey Wilson99,
Do you get any options?
I am also trying for the same thing.
Any help would highly appreciate!!

Plot to .pdf and use Acrobat "recognize text" feature. Copy and paste the text from the .pdf. This isn't a perfect solution but probably faster than retyping it. It also assumes you have Acrobat.
Following up on your thread, were you able to find a solution or a workaround?
