sweep problem

I recently put up a post call revolve problem, I had most of my problem answer but not total. i have created with an off set plane and use sweep to create my curve and key way on my cylinder, the problem i am having is i need to create the same cut away on the opposite side but the cut away keyway is stopping me to complete off set plane, so i can project the same curve on the other side, so i need help on how to do it. here is an attachment that i am trying to do.

Thank you for help
Regards Paul.

So i look at you sketch, you have said to draw 60m by 65mm, but looking at the sketch it looks like 32.5mm H by 65mm

Is that what you meant, Sorry i am only new to Cad, by a few months.

Thank you.

Happy to sketch either way.

Diameter.png

Note the diameter Ø symbol.

I am going to walk though this similar to working on a Lathe.

Do you have any experience turning parts on a Lathe?

The rectangle will be revolved about the Z axis (blue) resulting in a cylinder with diameter of 65.

So to dimension - click the axis line and then the outer line, right click and select Diameter as the dimension type.

When we get to Sketch 2, 3, 4 & 5 you will see why I did the Sketch 1 in this way.

Sorry can you please make a video on how you do this from the start, slowly. not really understanding how you got the circle dimension. So are you able to do the whole sweep or evolve. I made an evolve with a grove but i couldn't get an angle on it, so i am happy to learn from you. I feel if i see how you do in in a video then that would make it easlyeir, but i need it slower, with no short cuts.

Only if you have time.

I a little stuck.

It is easier to edit geometry if you keep the sketches simple.

This video demonstrates the Keep It Simple Sketching.

Rectangles (and Circles) are the foundation of sketching.

What do you want for the Pitch of the swept groove and how many degrees of rotation should the groove go around the part?

Thank you for teaching me, Ok i understand why you making separate sketches now. I use the revolve tool in the pass. But i always made 1 sketch, which mean any time i need change i had to go back to my first sketch and i was not using dimension tool either, or normal/construction lines.
so thank you for teaching me this.

So i am now up to date and i wait until you can post more, thank you so much.

My advice here won't be very  detailed but I believe there is enough detail in this thread as it directly applies to the sweep cut you are trying to make, the only difference being that in the linked thread the user mills down to the center of the cylinder, which makes it more convenient for him as he only needs one helix (3D sketch splines), while you need two.

Here is a link directly to the Screencast the user in the linked thread prepared. This should set you on the right path ad if you like the screencast, maybe give him another kudos in that thread. I tried to accomplish this using the Coil tool, but that tool is about one of the most dysfunctional tools in Fusion 360, so I'd stick with the 3D sketch spline approach this user is using:
