No drawing created

Anonymous

I am trying the "create drawing from design" option on a current project and it is failing. The drawing Tab is created, but no document "canvas" is made visible. If I push any button on that tab, Fusion moves to "(not responding)".  I have noted using a task manager that when I invoke the "create drawing from design" option, the process "AcCoreConsole.exe" starts up at about 12% of my cpu cycles, but never completes or varies after that. If I get into the "(not responding)" state, I can recover response from Fusion by deleteing the task "AcCoreConsole.exe".

To date,

- I have cleared the user cache. RESULT::still fails

- I have updated all of my video drivers, rebooted and reinstalled Fusion 360 version 2.0.1574. RESULT:: still fails

(I used the deinstall procedure that used Windows de-install of app followed by deletion of many specific directories)

- I have used a simple cube design (rather than my original design) to attempt to create a drawing. RESULT:: fail

- I have dropped back my preferences to use DirectX version 9.0. RESULT:: still fails

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. A copy of my Diagnostic Logs that should contain this morning's most recent failure is attached.

Can anyone help me?

Hi @Anonymous,

I am sorry you are having problems with drawings.  Let me look at your logs and get back to you. One quick question I have is, do you ever see a process named "InventorServerHost" created after AcCoreConsole has started?

Thanks,

Kris Berg

Thanks for your attention.....I have never noticed InventorServerHost.exe. I just created the situation again and, indeed, there is no process named that after AcCoreConsole.exe starts.

Hi @Anonymous,

I have analyzed your logs and have a theory on the issue.  Can you please do the following:

  1. Close Fusion 360
  2. Reboot your computer.  This will release all locked files.  I am seeing some warnings in your streamer log related to locked files.
  3. Uninstall Fusion 360
  4. Go to the Start > search for "regedit" and hit return to launch the regedit tool.
  5. regedit.png

5. Once regedit is invoked, go to the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\FusionDoc, right click and select "Delete" to delete it.

Registry.PNG

6.  Reinstall Fusion.

If this doesn't work, or you feel uncomfortable following these steps we can set up a screen sharing session.

Thank you,

Kris Berg

I'm sorry to report that the problem did not change after following the actions in your previous post. Any other thoughts?

Hi @Anonymous,

Just a few more questions:

  1. Do you have other Autodesk products installed? If so which ones?
  2. Do you ever see a process called AcIvServerHost.exe start when creating a drawing?

If I am unable to diagnose your issue, would you be open to doing a screen sharing session?

Thank you,

Kris Berg

First, thanks for sticking with me to try to resolve this.

No, I never remember seeing AClvServerHost.exe when creating a drawing. I also recreated an instance last night and did not see that process start.

Yes, I do have other Autodesk products installed.

1) The only one that I know that I want/need to preserve is Meshmixer.

2) These other apps have accumulated over the years, but are not critical to me anymore, given the introduction of Fusion 360, improvements to Meshmixer, and other.

- 3D Print Utility 1.1.1

- 123D Catch

- 123D 32 Bit

- 123D Beta

- 123D Design R14

3) There are other programs listed for Autodesk in the Control Panal that are apparently support Apps

- Autodesk Material Library 2013

- Autdoesk Material Library Base Resolution Image Library 2014

- Autodesk Material Library Base Resolution Image Library 2013

- Autodesk Material Library 2014

Yes, a screen sharing session would be acceptable. I've never performed one before, so I'll leave the logistics to you, if it should come to that.

As an update to my previous note, I have now de-installed the Autodesk Softwares which are not in current use. That leaves me with the latest releases of

Autodesk Fusion 360

Meshmixer

also still present are:

Autodesk Material Library 2013

Autodesk Material Library 2014

Autodesk Material Library Base Resolution Image Library 2013

Autodesk Material Library Base Resolution Image Library 2014

After each de-install (including Meshmixer) , I scanned and corrected registry errors with CCleaner as well as tested/reproduced the drawing creation error in Fusion.

The problem has not changed character.

I then reinstalled Meshmixer.

Hope that saves some effort in resolving the problem.

Thank you @Anonymous,

I think at this point I will set up a screen sharing session with you so that I can analyze the problem further.  I will send you a private email to set up a time that works for you.

I never could get Fusion 360 to make a drawing.  After much to do and telephoning I ended up having to create a new user  account on my computer and install Fusion under that user.  To date that is the only way I can get the drawing module to work.  Under the main administrator account Fusion crashes everytime I try to make a drawing.  The Fusion support people tried hard but never did ever figure out what was going on.

Good luck!

Hi @burnandreturn,

Yes, I am wondering if it is the same problem you had.  You are right, we were never able to reproduce the issue in-house.  We have been working on a project to try to reduce these types of issues by no longer using the windows registry in drawings.  We will be releasing it in a little more than a month.  Once we release it, it would be great if you could try using it again from your main administrator account.

Thank you,

Kris Berg

Thanks for the notes and info, @burnandreturn and @kris_berg. I was rained into indoor activity this afternoon, so went ahead and took a few last actions on my own. I deinstalled ALL Autodesk programs, folders, and files, cleaned the registry, rebooted, then reinstalled Fusion 360, unfortunately with the same problem behavior result.

I then deinstalled Fusion 360, cleaned the registry, created a new user, and installed in that account. Unfortunately, with the same result.

I am deflated.

When I re-inflate, I'll reinstall Fusion 360 and Meshmixer in my admin account and probably delete the secondary account.

Kris, I'm Ok if you want me to wait for the possible problem fix release later in the year as well. This is my first attempt to generate drawings, so it isn't ingrained in any process yet.I can't imagine what checks might yield fruit on my system at this point, but maybe you have some.

I'm also still open for a shared session if you believe there might be helpful information to be gleaned for either me or you.  Your call.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for all of your efforts to try to get drawings working on your computer.  Sorry you were not successful.  I sent you a private message.  If you can answer those questions, including when would be a good time to do a screen share, we can set something up.  I really want to help you get drawings working on your computer.

Thank you,

Kris Berg

Hi @Anonymous,

It looks like all of your registry keys are good.

We were able to reproduce your problem today.  It seems to be associated to the key scrambling/screenshot protection software.  Unfortunately, as you have learned, turning those features off was not sufficient.  The only solution we found was to uninstall it.  Can you try to uninstall it and see if you can create drawings?  We will be investigating it further to identify possible solutions (besides uninstalling).  I will let you know what we find.

Thank you,

Kris Berg

Indeed, I have seen my first drawing after un-installing that protection software.

I'm pretty far from a 13 year old adolescent, but allow me one "OMG, you're Awesome" for your results. Thanks, I'll be interested if you can find/suggest something further, but, for now, I'm a pretty happy camper.

I get the message Fusion 360 drawings cannot launch.

REinstalled several times .  Always the same result.  Can model but cannot get drawings.

Hi @Anonymous,

Welcome to the forum! I am sorry you are having an issue with drawings.  I have a few questions for you that will help me diagnose the issue.  Are you using Mac or Windows?  Do you have any special anti-virus or anti-key logging software installed?  Have you ever been able to create a drawing with Fusion 360?  When you uninstall Fusion 360, did you follow theses instructions https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/fusion-360/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/How-to-do-a-clean-uninstall-of-Autodesk-Fusion-360.html

Feel free to send me an email directly (kris.berg@autodesk.com) with these answers.

Thank you,

This post was very helpful. Man Very Happy I've been fighting with Drawings in Fusion 360 for a week now. Man Mad

Background:

The problem was I could not open or create drawings. Fusion 360 would look like it was going to open it; the new tab would appear; and then it just disappeared!

I read every post on this forum about the problem. I had no "FusDoc" folder to delete, the registry keys that folks suggested deleting were also not there to delete. Once I did a clean uninstall, reinstalled, and then for a day I had Drawings working... but then back to the problem and the clean uninstall would not fix it again. I reset all my system regional settings too... And a few other things I cannot recall.

I did discover that the AcCoreConsole.exe program was starting and then crashing every time I tried to create or open a drawing.

Screenshot 2017-02-03 18.19.27.png

Solution:

So, this post suggested some other program on another user's computer was preventing Drawings from running. I systematically started disabling programs and discovered my Password Manager was somehow causing the crash. If I close the Password Manager before opening Fusion 360, I can then edit and create drawings at will.

Since I spent hours troubleshooting this I thought I might share. Hope it helps someone else.

Cheers!
