Inspection Tool Bugs

Sometimes when I am trying to use the inspect tool, I get readings that are not helpful.  I am working in a design that has quite a few XREFs and am trying to measure the distance between two faces.  Here is what I get:

Screen Shot 2016-11-30 at 10.45.06.png

The top face is small, but it is indeed a face.  I know these features are square and are squarely aligned with rigid joints.  Fusion seems to know this too, but reports an angle of 0 degrees rather than the distance.  That is not helpful.  I have seen this in multiple models--not just this one.

If this happens, I re-select the features I want, but this time I use points rather than faces (and look at the xyz delta).  This takes extra time and sometimes does not work.  I have seen the inspect tool report an angle between two points on different components.  This is not right, either.  I do not have a screenshot for this, but it has happened more than once.

Does it still show an angle of zero if you set precision to All Decimals?

@HughesTooling,

I should have checked at that time.  It does, however, still show 0.0 deg if I set the precision to "all decimals".

Hi @neljoshua

Thanks for posting! I have logged an issue with our development team about this problem (FUS-29137). I will circle back here once I have more information to share. I also checked this phenomena in a variety of files and do not believe it to be related to the Xrefs.

For now, I would recommend allowing the Inspect > Measure tool to snap to points on the faces you are selecting and then use the XYZ delta readings.

Kind Regards,
