Chrome Browser Addon issues

I have been using Design Review and Vault to view networked DWF files through Internet Explorer.  We recently started using Chrome too, but the drawings would just download instead of popping up to view.  I found that an additional plugin needed to be installed to view them in Chrome, which I got from http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/design-review/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-C2-AE-... It didn't seem to do anything.  The drawings still just download instead of opening.  I've restarted the computer several times since the install.  Anyone have any ideas for me?

Dead link BTW. Are you usre the plugin is on in Chrome? Go into the plugin section and confirm.

FWIW... ADR development stopped in the year 2012. I suspect your plugin has 'version' issues and that is why it does not work unless it was dated recently to match your Chrome version.

It said it was made for Chrome and firefox.  The Add-in was made 3/26/14.    I have my Chrome settings set to automatically run plugins, but I'm working for a large corporation that has decided to disable many features of chrome and I'm thinking they might be doing something with plugin access.

It is also not showing up in the plugins list in Chrome's settings.

It didn't install perhaps? Are you by chance in Windows 8? If yes, Google reports these plugins must be rewritten in a newer API and I wonder if that is it.

Looks like it is running in my Chrome setup (Win7)

Thanks.  I'll check with our IT guys and see if they can fix it.  I'm on win7.

Have you considered using A360 or A360 Viewer as an alternative? https://360.autodesk.com/viewer

Unfortunately i dont think you will be able to resolve this issue as focus have moved away from Design Review and Plugins for Chrome etc.

I view the drawings through Vault, so I don't really have access to the files themselves. With A360, it looks like I'd have to download the file and then upload it to view on A360. I can already pretty much do the same thing by downloading it and then opening it in ADR. I was hoping to find a way to view it directly by clicking the link in vault. I think this real issue here has something to do with a restriction that our IT department is putting on Chrome, but I'm still looking into it. Thanks.

I did post this question on the vault forum the day after I posted here. http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-general-discussion/chrome-browser-addon-issues/m-p/5575586. Noone has responded there yet.

Hi @Anonymous

I've just unblocked the Plugin for Google Chrome and a DWF opens fine inside the Web Browser.

When i tried to open DWF in Chrome for first time i saw a little error in the address bar, select the error and state you want to allow the Plugin/Bowser add-on v1.2 to run.

My issue isn't with chrome blocking the plugin, its with something blocking the plugin from being installed into chrome in the first place. I don't get any errors or popups when I try to open a dwf. Chrome just automatically saves a copy of it in my download folder. I'm sure that it's an issue with our IT department disabling something.

Did you every find a solution for this?  I am also having the problem with the Plug-in being installed in Chrome.  It is not installing.  I have gotten it to install and work in Firefox.

Mine is definitely not an IT governance issue and I can reproduce this behaviour on multiple PCs in multiple environments.  I think something has changed in Chrome and it doesn't install anymore.  At one point, I did have it installed and it showed up...I am sure along the way, it got removed and not will not reinstall, even though it shows up in Add/Remove Programs.

If anyone has an idea on why it isn't installing, please let us know.

Thanks in advance...

Thought I had a solution.  One of our IT guys was able to install it by using an account with admin privileges.  Everything worked great for 2 days, then it was gone again, uninstalled from chrome along with several other plugins.  We were thinking some corporate sweep went through and cleared plugins, but I guess some chrome update could have caused it too.  Still working on getting it back.
