Processing Error in Data Exchange

Hi Everyone,

  1. I am getting a processing error in my data exxhange, which I want to use for Power BI. Maybe the issue is due to the large number of elements in the view. I want to know what is the limit of elements while creating data exchange and if this limit can be over-ridden.
  2. Also, I want to know if my model gets updated, will the newly added elements reflect in the data exchange or not?

I have attached the snapshots for reference.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

Answering the second question: Yes, the exchange will get updated automatically once the source Revit file is updated. So, the newly added/deleted/modified elements will reflect in the exchange as well.

Answering the first question: Generally, there is no specific limit for exchange; however, if Power BI needs to consume the exchange, it is advisable to keep elements below 30k. This does not imply that the Power BI Data Connector cannot support large models, but it is recommended to enhance performance. We also encourage creating more 'granular' exchanges, adding only necessary elements rather than the entire Revit file. This is merely a suggestion if it fits your use case.

Regarding the processing error: Have you ever deleted an exchange? Our current implementation relies on previously created exchanges, and if one gets deleted, the newly created exchange can become stuck with a processing error. We are working on a solution. In the meantime, to unblock you, could you upload the Revit file to another folder and try creating a new exchange?

Thanks and Best Regards,
