Hi all,

The new Civil 3D Cloud Data Exchange really looks promising and useful.

I already used it to transfer geometry from a C3D roads model into Revit.

A few remarks:

• The geometry showed up nicely in Revit but the geometry does not contain any properties from the attached Property Sets (created

Something seems to be missing because transfer of data should be working, according to this:

• I can use filters in the modelbrowser to select the elements that I need:
  
  

  But as soon as I go to the 'Data Exchange', the viewer resets and I lose my filtering and selection set.
  I can't use any filtering in here. So I need to manually hide/select elements in the viewer.

  
  
  I can select the elements I need but I can't transfer them to this list in the red rectangle:
  
  

  First, I have to write down all the element handles I need.

  Finally, in the Data Exchange viewer, I need to search for all these handles in the 'Element Name' list.
  
  Being able to select elements in the regular viewer and use that selection set in the Data Exchange would be really useful.

For properties, please select the parent node of the selected geometry in model browser.

What is the parent node of extracted corridor solids?

Maybe these aren't supported (yet)?

I also created a Data Exchange of a Corridor (so the solids are created automatically).

In Revit, I loaded that Data Exchange but that generates one big object.

This is probably a limitation of the Revit Data Exchange (2025)

For a Corridor, there are indeed properties but still not on solids level. Only on the Corridor itself

So, when clicked in the viewer, the geometry is selected and hence it looks like properties are not present. But properties are attached to the parent node of the geometry. So please try selecting it from model browser. See below screenshot.

Yes, I did that in my post above and also here:

As you explained, the data is only on the full Corridor currently.
If you would load this Data Exchange in other software (Revit), you are unable to filter the solids based on a property.

I think users would like to have the properties of the solids too.

In the example of loading a Data Exchange in Revit and show them in a Revit section view:

• You could filter visibility of solids based on their property
• You could apply colors based on their property

Is properties on Solid objects on the roadmap?

Any chance we can be allowed to overwrite (version up) an existing data exchange?  We want to be able to link this into Revit and update the DE contents as the Civil 3D drawings iterate.

Yes, so as soon as the source DWG is updated to a newer version, then the linked exchange gets auto-updated. 

Please note that this auto-update currently does not work if the DWG is updated through Desktop Connector, so please make sure you update the DWG by the Upload Files approach.

Apologies that I did not reply earlier to your queries related to 'solids in Revit'. 

Currently, reading solids-level properties is not supported by Revit, and there are no immediate plans to support this.

Doesn't that defeat the purpose of working on Forma with Desktop Connector...
It would be really nice that the DE updates with Desktop Connector too.

Yes,  it is a current limitation that DE updates not working with Desktop Connector, we are actively working on it to support. So, please hang in there, soon will have some good news.

for writing and reading solid/geometry level properties, I would need to take to this requirement with our PM and EM teams. Could you please write to us at [email protected] and data.exchange.support.com about this so that I can take this further effectively. Also, it will be great if you provide your corridor DWG to us.

We only work on Civil 3D project via Desktop Connector and Forma, a manual upload would break our workflow.

I'm happy to inform you that the auto-update issue with Civil 3D Cloud Connector exchanges has been resolved and the fix is now live in production.
Exchanges will now automatically update when the source DWG file is saved via Desktop Connector directly from Civil 3D, with no manual intervention required.
Please give it a try and let us know if you run into anything else. Happy to help!
