Just added my vote! I found a forum post about this back in 2007 where an Autodesk product manager said this was on the list of improvements to be made. 8+ years and nothing yet? Come on. It cannot be that difficult a programming task.
This idea has been vetted by the community and our product teams, and we’ve added it to our development backlog so that it can be considered for future inclusion into Civil 3D. Please note: we cannot confirm how this idea will be implemented, and/or provide a time frame as to when it may be implemented.
In BC we produce plan only sheets and profile only sheets. It is nearly impossible to create plan only and profile only sheets such that the plan only matchline stations are the same as the profile only matchline stations. I'm not sure why this needs to be so difficult but I believe it has something to do with the selected profile view style that is used to calculate the layout dimensions. A workaround is to create plan/profile sheets using a DWT that has coincidental plan and profile viewports. Once the sheets are created you remove the profile viewports from the plan sheets and the plan viewports from the profile sheets. This is a reasonable workaround but can be time consuming and tedious for large projects.
If one is creating plan only sheets you would think that profile only sheets would be required and vice versa, and that the match lines for corresponding plan and profile sheets would be at the same station.
