Typical Highway Geometric Design Method
- The current road design method is considered a semi-manual method and uses engineering programs software’s as a display and output rather than searching and comparing between the best alternatives of different designs, and also produces a large number of differences in the cost and method of applying the limitations when the same inputs to road design engineers.
Research Methodology
It is a method of entering and modifying information for current engineering design programs manually using the trial-and-error method to reach the best results. This method requires a lot of time, but for its ease, research has been adopted on it and engineering programs software’s have been used for output. It is used in simple road projects that small length and few parameters, it is not useful in large roads for difficulty of its application.
- It is a method of entering information into engineering design programs, so the road is designed automatically and search between the different alternatives to reach the best design that matches the specifications and lowest cost and less time. Unfortunately, it cannot be applied currently because the current engineering design programs need to be updated and developed in their method of working with the Typical Highway Geometric Design.
- From the results of the previous examples, I concluded that each road has a unique design that according to the specifications and is the lowest cost when applying the Typical Highway Geometric Design Method to design it.
- Updating engineering programs software’s to suit the application of The Typical Highway Geometric Design Method using the automatic method.
- Adopting The Typical Highway Geometric Design Method to be taught in universities.
