Object Viewer Orbit Pivot Point

Object Viewer Orbit Pivot Point

Problem

When dealing with a large surface, the default orbit point is not sufficient as it does not allow for finely-graded orbit movements near the area of interest.

Solution

We need the ability to set the orbit pivot point by snapping and choosing  point on one of the objects in the object viewer to set as the orbit point.

This is still broken in 2025...

Please, for the love of god, fix this, Autodesk!

Praise the gods, they finally listened. The new Model Viewer introduced in version 2026 resolves this issue. The orbit now works, and what's more, you can keep this viewer open while you make edits, add and remove various objects to the viewer and they persist, and you can toggle on and off various objects in this viewer so you don't constantly have to select the same objects over and over to view them in object viewer.

Thank you for finally listening to your users, Autodesk!

Thank you for posting the workaround! We don't have 2026 yet and that tip has been very helpful. Looking forward to the new verison
