Multiple Velocities, Qs, HGLs, and Design storms in 3D Storm Drain Part Properties

Multiple Velocities, Qs, HGLs, and Design storms in 3D Storm Drain Part Properties

1) We need Velocity and Smin as a properties in 3D Storm Drain Pipes that InfoDrainage can import data into so it can be accessed with smart labels.  Every jurisdiction I know of requires them to be shown.

2) Allow multiple design storms with associated HGLs, Qs, Vs, and Smin.  Sometimes jurisidcitions and clients require different storms so multiple HGLs need to be shown.

Hi John,

I saw your idea about multiple design storms and HGLs on storm drain pipes, and it's a problem I know well. We use the rational method a lot where I work, and for years I ran each return period through a spreadsheet and carried the results back to Civil 3D by hand.

That got tedious enough that I built a Civil 3D plugin for it, HydraStorm. Full disclosure: it's my product. It works with the pipe network in the drawing. You set up as many storm events as you need (design, check, analysis), and the HGL updates as you edit pipes. Nothing changes in the drawing until you apply the calcs. At that point it writes the event marked as the design storm results to the native pipe and structure properties (inverts, slopes, design-storm Q, HGL and EGL), so your existing Civil 3D labels and tables pick them up. It still can output the tables from the other events that you model, just as you noted there are no places to save them natively in C3D.

If you try it and your municipalities have their own junction loss standards, send them over and I'll look at building a library for them.
