Enable the ability to project IFC onto Section Views in Civil 3D

As requested by an user, it would useful to incorporate an option to project objects from IFC files coming from Revit, for example, to Section Views.

 

Direct feedback: "In Nordics, we receive more and more IFC files that we want to be able to handle in our Civil drawings. It could be that we, in our cross sections, would like to visualize the environment and not only the corridor. It also helps the design validation, meaning if we should "connect" the corridor or surface to the IFC we would like to see that that is the case in the cross sections. Like if the IFC is a building and we are creating the surface and superstructure that lies against the building. Or as in this case we have a corridor against a sheet pile or that type of object. But could also be for clash detection purpose."

This is such an obvious requirement, it saddens me that this is posted by Autodesk in their own ideas-forum in the year 2026. This should have been implemented ten years ago.
While we can't even section 3d solids properly and the "Civil 3D - Revit Interoperability"-item gets pushed back on the roadmap year after year after year...yeah - let's start this process and "gather support"...

Crucial for street design, as especially with dealing with clients such as city councils, section views of the intended corridors display annotation and measurements. For example the distance between the light pole and decorative cladding attached to sheet piling or other structures.

In any modern BIM workflow, receiving external IFC models is a daily standard, not an exception. The inability to directly project these IFC objects onto Civil 3D Section Views forces engineers into ridiculous, time-consuming workarounds just to validate basic design interfaces (e.g., a corridor tying into a building foundation or retaining wall).

Unfortunately, given Autodesk's historical development pace for core infrastructure features, it feels like we will be waiting another decade for this basic functionality. The industry is genuinely exhausted from waiting for standard interoperability features that should already be natively supported.
