cogo point with alignment stationing

cogo point with alignment stationing

i would like to see, in the Create Points, the ability to add a cogo point on an alignment with the Stationing.

We can create station labels on an alignment but not with cogo points, i don't understand why not. we have to select the alignment and a location for the point but for some reason the station can't be added?

Thank you for your idea.

While we research this idea and have other customers vote on it, would the Measure Alignment (CREATEPOINTMEASUREALIGN) method be a possible workaround?

There is probably a lisp solution for this. Research and find a lisp that approximates your problem, then type it into chatgpt and describe what you want it to do.

@TimYarris:  FYI......  C3D doesn't recognize the command CREATEPOINTMEASUREALIGN.  It's CREATEPOINTMEASUREALIG (without the N on the end).

@TimYarris:  I just tried this myself and it doesn't do anything like what I think @lehmaneC9QR5 is asking for.  It seems to just make it easier to create points along the alignment.  @lehmaneC9QR5 appears to be asking for a way to include the relative station (and probably offset) within the point label.

Unfortunately (within C3D2024 at least), Cogo Point label styles can't include a reference text which is exactly how I would've accomplished this request.

Thanks!
I hadn't thought about a LISP routine as a solution.
I have used chatGPT and it appears to struggle with lisp as it, even when you specify to use lisp, it will want to throw in VBA code.
And as of yesterday while using ChatGPT (free version) I discovered it will start in the new 4o version and once you reach a limit of maybe 5 questions it won't continue unless you subscribe or wait another day to continue. It used to revert to ChatGPT 3.5 and you could continue but not anymore.
Thanks for the advice!

Yes, that is exactly what I am trying to do!
Sorry it wasn't clear enough as I thought it was when I wrote it.
Also, I am using the Civil 3D 2024.
Thanks for the help!

If you are looking for a tool to automate this until Autodesk adds support, these two options currently exist that should do what you need to do.

  1. DotSoft's C3DTools
  2. Quux SincPac

Thank you, I'll take a look at it!

Another option to accomplish this would be to use Dynamo for Civil 3D.

Thank you!!
I will definitely look into this. It looks very interesting as I have never used it. Even if I can't use it this time for what I am trying to resolve, it looks like something with potential for other tasks.
