Background Mask for Direction Arrow

Background Mask for Direction Arrow

I'd like to see a background mask added to the direction arrow in Label Styles. It looks bad when the label masks out items below it but the arrow is mixed in with the items below. There are workarounds but none I consider a solution.

I kept seeing the arrowhead getting masked on plotted drawings for slope labels.  The mask for the text would partially mask the arrowhed.  Needed the mask for label because of contours.  Finally added a "Y offset".  Although I'd rather have the text closer to the direction arrow line...

I would like to have the option to include the arrow in mask.  But I don't mind the arrow not being in the mask.  As long as the text mask isn't messing with the direction arrow.

Here is my quick stab at a masked slope arrow Label concept.

I suggest draw order:

Direction Arrow (top)

Surface Slope (middle)  You will neeed a "Y" offset if you do not want the arrow passing through the text.

Direction arrow.1 (bottom)  This is teh mask. you willneed to experiment with color and lineweight.
