I got a request on this and not that I care too much because the whole problem can be circumvented by just using a newer version but man, it sure got me smiling:

Issue: When running Create Best Fit Alignment in Civil 2018.3 a "Fatal Error: Unhandled Access Violation Reading..." message is displayed ending in a crash of the software.

Environment: Civil 3D 2018.3

Causes: The Civil 3D 2018.3 update is installed.

Solution: Uninstall the Civil 3D 2018.3 update.

But yet 2018.3 is necessary for something as simple as printing to work correctly...🤔

So it looks like they have not created an update to fix the problem they just say to uninstall the last update which creates other issues, really?
