Xref Transparency

Hi all,

In the next picture you can see the layout that I'm currently working on. As you can see I attached a Xref of the image of the aerial map.I add two viewports in the bottom left to have a better display of a existing infrastructure. The problem is that the infraestructure can't be seen properly so I want to make the aerial map on those two viewport 70% transparency, only in those two viewports. How can I do these?

Any other option to have a better display of the infrastructure on those viewports?

1st, make sure the transparency of the image is set to ByLayer.

2nd, double click into one of the smaller viewports to make it active.  Now go to the layer manager and there should be a column for setting a View Port Transparency (VP Transparency)  Set a transparency value for the layer that the image resides on.

3rd, do the same for the other smaller viewport.

Be sure to have Plot Transparency checked when you in the plot window when you plot.

Other options:

Insert the image a second time on a separate layer. Give the image a transparency or fade value.  Use layer manager to select the correct one for each viewport.

Place a wipeout, on its own layer, that covers the entire image. Set a transparency for the wipeout to make it a semi-wipeout. Place it below the line work and above the image in the draw order. use the layer manager to have it on or off as needed for each view.

The transparency should show up on a line in the standard autocad properties window when you select the image.  ... Although I'm not sure all image types/sources have this setting.  If not, see the optional methods in the prior post.

I did this, I have the image with 90% Fade over the original one. So now I'm trying to switch off this image from the big viewport, but I can't turn it off...

Please help

Use the view port freeze column (VP Freeze) to freeze the appropriate image layer for each viewport.  Double click into each viewport to make it active before selecting the layer(s) to freeze for that viewport.

No there, call the layer manager from paper space and overwrite the layer transparency through the viewport

One possibility is that you could select the image and right click --> display order --> send to back. Display order can make a difference.
