XRef Lineweights Do Not Change

I'm having an issue where my xref lineweights do not change. Everything is set to 0 or default thickness in the original drawing. In the host drawing, the xref layer is set to default and all the lines are set to BYLAYER. I've tried using XREFOVERRIDE and VISRETAIN. Nothing changes the lineweight of the xref lines. Their global width is 0. I tried closing and reopening the drawing, and some of the lines got even thicker and I cannot set them to 0. How can I fix their weights?

Is the system variable LWDISPLAY set to ON? Could be that the lineweights are changing, but not being displayed.

Yes it was on. I turned it off and back on again to see if it would reset. It did not, the XREF lines are still the wrong thickness.

The VISRETAIN set to 0 will do that . But it will wipe out any changes you made in the host drawing to the xref layers properties.

I just saw you tried VISRETAIN  and it didnt work. I'm stumped because it should. Did you save, close, and re-open?

Yes I did. That made the problem worse. All the lines got thicker, not just some of them.

Best bet it to share the drawing on here and let others play around with it to try and find what's amiss.

Another option to look at is this: https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Modified-xref-laye...
