Hello!
It's me again..
1st thing, if this message belongs in another part of the forum - my appologies, switch it please ๐
Allright, the issue..and i HAVE "knowledged" it, googled it..i saw a lot of questions, some suggestions, as far as i've seen - no real solution.
Whenever i switch workspaces, palletes dissaper. Sometimes, out of nowhere, navbar reapears. This time it didn't. When i freshly start Civil3D i usualy have the TOOLSPACE, but not the map task pane.
All of my workspaces have the same panes saved to them, not just autosave, but WS SETTINGS->SAVE AS->OVERWRITE, but no matter what - i still have to manualy turn on map pane, and most of the times the toolspace too. I've even made sure to do it when saving my DWT used for newfiles, qnew and so on..no dice.
I've just tried AGAIN:
1. start civil, my panes are missing. turn them on, save WS as and yes overwrite.
2. switch to Civil3D WS, no panes. Turn them on, save WS and yes overwrite.
3. switch back to IGGY WS, no panes. And presto, there's the navbar again.
It IS only a couple clicks, but i bet you whatever there's not that many dedicated users doing ONLY one or the other. I do a lot of civil, some MAP for underlays, coord systems and so on, and it is a pain to switch back and forth. And even if it is only a few clicks, you programmed the S*** out of this, and we can't have things turned on as we find fit? Is it a lefty thing? ๐ (my dissapearing panes are on the left side)
Cheers ๐
Screencast:
Perhaps I missed it with the mouse going around in circles, making me dizzy.
But do you have Workspace Settings -> Button on "Automatically save workspace changes" checked.

Hehe
That's my trick ๐
I was trying to point out how it dissapears.
Yup, i have those checked. I even went to CUI and manualy updated the default profile to keep what need be opened. I've read somewhere that Civil defaults to something between switching..so i made sure that the default complies.
thanks
I've seen this behavior at workstations where either the windows user profile or security settings are preventing changes from being saved. You may need to check with your IT people to verify that your profile and user account settings will permit you to save changes to your UI. Other than that, you may need to run a repair or re-install the software.
Additionally you can navigate to the exe file and set it to always run in administrator mode, that may help you out as well.

Thanks for the ideas! Will look into it!

Right!
I'd love to say i found the solution, answers..nope. But it HAS started working.
I did two things..
1. i saw someone asking about reference grids, i never use those, so i went and tried them...turns out it's "handicaped". So...(now the bit that matters) i went to ADD REMOVE, added some content (ANZ and metric and maybe some pipes, don't think in matters). Civil was more or less the same (except some settings being reset), so i aranged my panes again..
2. the frikkin navbar keeps poping out when i save my WS. So, i decided that the CUBE is the issue. I went to settings, disabled the cube for all visual styles, turned off the navbar..
And would you look at that - my workspace got saved.
I start my PC, C3D, all there...i did not believe it so i shut it down and back up like 10 times.
Anyways, something is obviusly wrong somewhere. If anyone else has these problems, try with only one of these things, could be only cube was the problem.
Thank you all for reading, and for your suggestions.
Cheers
edit: it still has issues when switching WS
Hi Igor,
For the Map Task Pane, do you have it checked in _MAPOPTIONS?
@Anonymous might be on to something. Have you tried changing your Windows User?
Oh, and I liked your Screencast. It clearly showed the problem.

Yep!
Fidling trough the forum(s), and civil, and bugging with this problem made me realize there are some "hidden" stuff and dialogs that i was unaware of. Dunno why developers try so hard to hide things from users.
The navbar is still a mistry ๐
And yea, as i said, things work ok now, at least i don't have to manage the panes when i start civil. But the WS switching is still doing funny shtuff.
Cheers
i also turned the cube off, but used the system variable to turn off the navbar (as opposed to shutting down the tool bar on the screen). Have to change it in every work space but seems to stay off) navbardisplay set to 0
