C3D 2018.2 Win 7

I am implementing C3D into our Microstation/Inroads shop. I have a question about how to keep project management simple. My users are going to have a steep learning curve as it is.

Is there a way to create a new new Data Shortcuts Project Folder outside of C3D, or do you have to do it through Toolspace>Prospector>Data Shortcuts?

We've got an executable that creates a project folder structure including all sub folder, blank dwg's & docs, data shortcut folder, etc. Everything goes into the data shortcuts Working Folder. What I want is to use that utility and then have C3D recognize that a new shortcut folder was created. It would be very cool if every dwg in the folder could be associated with the new project.

Maybe this is something I could batch? Something that would open a dwg in a project folder, create a new data shortcut project, whose name is identical to the existing project folder created by our utility, then associate every dwg in the project folder to the correct data shortcut project.

Thoughts?

I think that I found the answer myself - do not use our utility, but create a new project folder with a project template and everything isd created just like with our utility. Question is, will the dwg's inside be associated with the new project?

One thing our utility does that New Data Shortcuts Project does not is rename every file in the project template to include the project number as filename prefix. Any ideas how I can get past this? The only thing I can think of offhand is to use our utility to create the project folder, then use New Data Shortcuts with the Use project template box unchecked, and enter in the same name as was already created.
