Why is table text height slightly larger in a data linked excel table?

Hi

Sorry if this has been answered before I can't find a working solution. I have a couple of point tables in excel using isocp font size 11. When I create a data link to this table using the copy/pastespec method in C3D 2018 I can get the table to paste and can format the columns and rows however the font size is out by a small amount.

I have existing text in the drawing also in isocp font which appears slightly smaller but bolder than the 2.5mm, 3.5mm and 5.0mm isocp text in the excel table. This stands out and is is not acceptable.

Strangely all of the numeric figures in the excel table are formatted as "decimal numbers" with 3 dec places but when I pastespec the table in each numeric cell is "text". If I change any of the numeric cells format back to "decimal number" in C3D they appear at the correct size and slightly bolder like the existing text and mtext in my drawing. I can't get any of the text in the table - titles/headers etc - to resize like this though, only the numeric cells so the table looks even worse.

Anyone got any idea what the prob is? I can't use point groups as there are too many colums/rows with custom formatting and I don't want to have to manually type into the table to match the exsting text formatting if it can be avoided.

Cheers!

I'm not using 2018 but have not experienced this issue in other versions.

Are you pasting using Command: _pastespec > Paste Link > AutoCAD entities ?

After pasting are you applying custom Table Styles with title header & data & Cell Styles?

The desired text heights can all be set within the AutoCAD table style.

In my experience since 2015 the paste special is hard coding the excel style and the edit to the table style do nothing. Removing style override doesnt help either. this never happened to me in 2014 or earlier. I'll post a screen cast shortly

Yes I'm doing all of this. The issue is isocp from excel is thinner/less bold and is slightly taller in height than isocp in CAD. I can manually change text height for any cells with only text in them but it doesn't fix the boldness issue. If I double click each cell so I can manually edit the text, select all, then in annotation tab change the style to something other than my standard isoccp, then back again, it fixes the bold issue. However doing this for loads of cells is impractical.

When you set up your data link are you un-checking "Use Excel formatting" under Cell formatting in the New Excel Data Link dialog box? That has tripped me up before.

Got that, thanks. Sadly the layout of the table means if I convert to AutoCAD object and don't use Excel formatting, I end up with lines all over the shop because there are e.g. header rows where the text is longer than 1 column width - and AutoCAD can't cope with merged cells or cell text going over to the next cell.

I found a font someone online created called "simplextechnical.ttf" which nearly works, I have to add a space here and there to look right but a bit of fiddling with font size and column width and I'm nearly there...
