why civil 3d is poor software aimed only at autodesk profits

I have been using civil 3d for years and the software has been struggling with the same problems for years. Slow operation of the software, millions of errors and bugs, still the same utilities, which without the support of the community, especially Lisp, the software would be even worse. Autodesk why. BIM is a failure.

You kind of answered your own question. Autodesk is a public company and Civil 3D doesn't have much competition. There's not a lot of incentive to put the time in to fix Grading object stability, Pressure Network limitations, BIM compatibility, etc. Those might be monumental issues to overcome, I don't know. If this was a labor of love like some niche products, the developers wouldn't sleep (and wouldn't dream of adding new features) until those issues were resolved.

I don't agree with the premise of your statement.  Autodesk is doing alot to improve Civil 3d and work on issues like performance.  A good example is the ENABLEDSMULTITHREAD setting added in 2024. This has saved our team a ton of time.

I think the people who use Civil 3d the most will often see the most to complain about.  Lets flip this around, I encourage you to submit your suggested improvements to the Civil 3d Ideas forum. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/civil-3d-ideas/idb-p/31

While I think there have been tremendous improvements in recent years, there remains a ton to do. 

If you use Civil 3d alot, I'm sure you see things that frustrate you and could be improved on.  Help direct improvement by making specific comments on the pages above.

This community has expanded to offer more opportunities to work closely with our designers, user researchers, and other product team members throughout the development lifecycle. This includes participating in technology previews that are very early in the development process. By participating in these communities and sharing your insights, you can help us prioritise improvements that matter most to you and the wider user community.
