Why does the top vertical left and right axis elevation not show when it ends in 5.  We have to trick it by extending the profile elevation by .0001

I am using Civil 3d 2018, but have noticed this to be the case for several version now.

I don't have that problem but I also do not have my elevations to three places, I have no clue if that is the reason.

I was playing around with this a little bit. The profile view I was using had a max elevation of 470. If I manually set the elevation to 470, the top elevation displayed no problem. I changed the elevation to 699.9999 (the drawing settings had it set to display to 3 decimal places so I went out an extra one). As expected, the top elevation no longer displayed. Going back into the view properties, the max elevation showed as 470.000 (which is what 699.9999 rounds to). I manually typed in 470, hit ok, and the top elevation did not change. Odd. I changed the properties to 471, hit ok, and it displayed. Changed back to 470, and it stayed displaying.

Perhaps you are running into something like this? Change the max elevation to something just above what you want it to display (which it looks like you've already done), and then change it back. Does it stay?

It doesn't have anything to do with the 5, C3D doesn't label the top elevation of the grid if it is a minor interval, only labels the top for major intervals.
