The 10.2 release update focuses on licensing installer enhancements to fix defects, improve logging, gather install related data for troubleshooting and analytics purposes. In addition, this update includes changes to the License Manager to display correct licensing attributes for Students on named-user licensing. As a best practice, for improved reliability, security, and performance it is always recommended that users apply the latest available Autodesk Licensing Service update before launching Autodesk products.
Processing of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) observations is vital in the life of Surveyors' work. Although there are several ways to collect survey data, one of the approaches that are not fully utilized is the Post-Processed Kinematic (PPK) survey, even though PPK is a viable and useful alternative to Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) for various conditions. Some users have suggested an easy way to perform PPK processing and insert the output data into a Civil 3D drawing. Autodesk is happy to introduce a significant software advancement in the surveying and construction industry to cater to those needs. This advancement is a tool that processes RINEX (Receiver Independent EXchange format) data called PPK Survey extension for Civil 3D. This tool is now available for Civil 3D 2019-2021 and ready to be installed via Autodesk Desktop App or manage.autodesk.com.
Anyone capturing GPS data from a device that can output RINEX data can process both static base files and moving rover files to compute PPK points and insert them into a Civil 3D drawing. This tool allows the user to specify and process PPK data using all the typical settings that GNSS uses, such as Elevation Masking, Frequencies, selecting relevant Elevation Models such as Ellipsoidal, and support for the selection of major Satellite Systems, to name a few. This tool will compute both kinematic (moving) points and Occupied (Stationary) points. Additionally, it supports Autonomous Base methods, along with processing multiple simultaneous CORS or VRS Base solutions. It also supports data filtering and time clipping to enable review and usage of data that meets the user's accuracy standards. These features are simple, easy to use, and understand interface for a short learning curve.
We encourage you to check this tool out and provide us your feedback. We understand that many of you are familiar with PPK but use RTK and other means for your survey needs, but we are curious to hear your comments, potential use of this tool in your workflow, and any enhancements that can make this tool more apt for your needs. There is detailed documentation available with the install but don't hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance.
