What is the object? There is a fuzzy (as if selected) rectangle with a red dot (location mark?) suddenly in my drawing and the extents are now the extents of the state plane system or something.  This happened when I referenced two surface data shortcuts.  Everything was fine before with the extents in the proper place.  Now the surfaces are somewhere else or nowhere.

The surfaces were performing correctly before I opened it this last time.

Hi @whiskytown

That blue square is known as ESRI project area and the RED symbol is a Geomarker. The blue square and red Geomarker are due to the Coordinate System you have assigned to modelspace. Neither the square nor the Geomarker will adversely affect your drawing.

To turn off the blue square:

Go to command line enter ESRI_PROJECTAREA=>Visibility=>False

To turn off the Geomarker:

On command line enter GEOMARKERVISIBILITY=>Then enter either 0 or 1.

0=Off

1=On

Excellent.  Thank you. I am indebted to you and all who take the trouble when I get myself stuck. I will recheck that copy of the file.  Probably the data shortcuts were just taking their sweet time to load.
