Unable to raise/lower surface elevation

Anonymous

I'd like to lower a surface elevation by 0.2 feet and I've tried doing this in the surface definition but the max/min elevation and a profile are unchanged after making the edit and rebuilding the surface. The surface is referenced in a profile drawing using a data shortcut. I've changed the surface profile from dynamic to static, changed the order of the surface edits, and rebuilt surface after each try but no luck. Any advice would be welcome! Thanks.

If your surface is a data reference then you need to open the source drawing and adjust it from there. Then assuming your profile is dynamic it should update according to the new surface definition.

Hi @Anonymous ,

I think you can try this:

  • Promote the surface present in the data shortcut to your drawing (Surface A)
  • Create a new surface (Ex. Surface B)
  • Paste the Surface A to your Surface B
  • Surface B.jpg
  • The you can do what you want to that surface.

Hope it helps.

Regards.

I have been making the edits and rebuilding the surface in the source drawing and then checking the profile drawing for any changes (refreshing the surface/data reference as well). It's in dynamic update mode - still no luck.

Do you have all updates installed, I seem to remember a dref sync issue.

@Topmig I pasted the surface with the edits into a new surface and the statistics indicated that the elevation was successfully lowered! However, when I created a data shortcut for this new surface and referenced it in the  with the profile drawing the surface was not drawn in the profile view and there were no statistics in the surface properties. See attached screen shot.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Did you referenced it with the "profiles--Create profile from surface"?

That's weird, it should assume as a normal surface.

If you changed the Profile Surface reference to Static, it will never update.  Click on the profile, if there are grips it is Static and will never update, thus the "Static".

If you are wanting to show a profile .2' below the proposed ground, you have some options.

I use a Free App from the Store.  Polyline From Profile or something close to that (not at the office)

Another option is to create a dummy as suggested above.  Paste your proposed surface into the dummy and lower by .2' Sample in the profile.  Keep them as Dynamic and all will be well.

If I understand what you are doing, that should work.

Thanks,
