Unable to insert PI at a specified point

Hi

I'm just starting to learn AutoCAD Civil3D and am going through the 'AutoCAD Civil 3D 2015 Essentials' textbook. However, I am getting an error message when trying to design an alignment in 2D.

I am trying to insert a PI and then snapping to the center of a circle marked 'A' along Jordan Court, but am getting an error saying 'unable to insert PI'.

Please refer to the working file attached. I am using the 2019 version.

Thanks,

PI had been already inserted, you have to move it as shown in the attached screens

@MohamedR.Nasreldeen is correct. There is already a PI at point A.

A general answer to your question is that sometimes Civil 3D will not insert a PI where you want it. In that case, just insert the pi at some location that Civl 3D is happy with then drag the point to the proper location.

I find this problem working on small sites where I want to insert a PI near other PIs. At heart, Civl 3d is a roadway design tool; site design is secondary. What works well for roadway design, might not be optimized for site design and there may have been no testing in the site design environment.

Under alignment properties> Design Criteria: make sure you don't have a design speed specified. You may also need to change your alignment to "Rail" under information tab. Save and then close and reopen drawing. You should now be able to add PIs.
