Twinmotion and Civil 3D

Whilst Twinmotion seems to be included with Revit, is there a similar workflow for Civil 3D/Infraworks?

Are you saying you do not see Infraworks in your Autodesk Account?

Not sure why you had marked this as a solution...???

There is no issue with Infraworks appearing in my account and my query is where is the Twinmotion download as there is a Twinmotion for Revit download in my account but not for anything else in the AEC collection.

There is only this one

There is no separate one for the collection

...which brings us back to my first post - how can I use Civil 3D/Infraworks content in Twinmotion?

you will probably have to go through Infraworks to Twinmotion since Infraworks can export out to FBX

Twinmotion can't open dwg files

I'll tag @ToddRogers-WPM for his input

Twinmotion is downloaded from the Epic Games website. It's free for standalone Revit and the AEC Collection.  Use your Autodesk login to create an account with Epic Games and it will activate it. Yes, fbx is the way from Infraworks to Twinmotion.

I've been playing with Twinmotion quite a bit recently, very interesting software that has a lot of what has been missing from Infraworks.

Ideally you want to build your Infraworks model to be as close to the final render as you can make it.

Add in your surface, all your textures as cover areas (either with closed polylines or as a corridor with your corridor model is very smooth and has the codeset with materials).  Also add in your architect model via an IFC file in my case.

Then, Present > Export to 3D Model File.  I prefer using the multiple file option over a single file, it only export 4 files anyway.  The FBX file format seems to work fine.

Then in Twinmotion, using Import, Geometry.  I find Collapse by Material to work the best.  The Twinmotion tools are quite easy to use.  Let us know if you have any more questions.

@m_kingdon what did you install from the Epic Games site?

All I'm seeing is the free unlimited-time trial version which is not for commercial use

If you have the AEC Collection, and you logged in with your Autodesk login, then it shouldn't be saying Trial. It says if you are not seeing the right version, click on one of tabs and then back on Twinmotion tab to refresh it. Did you try that?

@m_kingdon I prefer using Keep Hierarchy. I think you will find it more beneficial with InfraWorks models.

Strange...I only have the Trial versions in the drop down - I'll try an uninstall and reinstall

@ToddRogers-WPM @m_kingdon @DarrenP @Anonymous

The supplied Twinmotion for Revit can be run as a standalone and there is no need to download anything else from the Epic Games website. Response I had from my query below

"....Thank you for contacting us. Please know that only "Twinmotion for Revit" will be available through your Autodesk subscription; the Autodesk subscription will not include access to the commercial versions of Twinmotion that are provided through the Epic Games launcher.

Though the Twinmotion Cloud is not currently included in Twinmotion for Revit, Twinmotion for Revit will otherwise be identical to the commercial versions available through the Epic launcher. Please let me know if I am misunderstanding your question, though in terms of compatibility, Twinmotion for Revit will have the same import capabilities as the launcher's version of Twinmotion, so you should be able to use Twinmotion for Revit alongside other Autodesk products apart from Revit, such as 3ds Max.

Twinmotion for Revit can be downloaded through the Autodesk All products and Services page here if you do not have this already. Please see our FAQ here for more information: Twinmotion for Revit FAQ..."

I was trying to clarify what was required to use other Civil/Infraworks with Twinmotion as the branding "Twinmotion For Revit" suggests it is for Revit only whereas it ("Twinmotion For Revit") can actually also be used as a standalone product and used to import fbx files (as you have pointed out) thus my query has been answered...😊

@ToddRogers-WPM In what way is this a contradiction? The name "Twinmotion For Revit" is a bit confusing as it suggests it is exclusively for use with Revit whereas it can be used to import fbx files with more or less the same functionality - apart from Cloud which I have no interest in anyway.
