Trim / Extend comand problem

I have run into a problem while in C3D, i try to use the Trim, or Extend command and when trying to shift select to do the opposite, i get a error

"Command: tr TRIM
Current settings: Projection=UCS, Edge=None
Select cutting edges ...
Select objects: 1 found

Select objects:
Select object to trim or shift-select to extend or [Project/Edge/Undo]:
Image(s) not selected.
Select Image(s) then issue command."

why am i not being allowed to shift select to extend?

I'm having the same problem. When I am in a command like "line" then I usually can hit my shift key while holding drawing my line to activate ortho. When I try to set the endpoint by left-clicking though I get this message "Select Image(s) then issue command" and the line won't end. Oddly, sometimes it works fine in paper space. Any ideas on this?

MAPIOPTIONS General tab, deselect the Shift+Left click Image selection box
