To upgrade, or not to upgrade (or downgrade)

Maybe someone else has had the same experience as I have. I used 2019 for a couple years before I upgraded to 2021 about 5 months ago. I usually wait to upgrade to a newer version until there has been sufficient time for the bugs to be worked out. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that the bugs have been fixed in 2021 yet. The issues I've experienced:

1. crashes/closes for no reason

2. it's very slow accepting keyboard shortcuts if it's more than one letter (this was extremely annoying)

3. (last straw) commands stopped working when items are preselected

I just downgraded to 2020 so that I can continue working. It works so much better than 2021, so far. If I could keep 2019 for longer (perpetual instead of subscription), I would.

Personally, I'm in shifting to the new version after 1 or 2 updates which is usually 6-9 months with the newbie hitting the shelves roughly in April (coming to a theater here soon), if the drawing format doesn't change, which has historically happened every 3 years or so.....

#1 always happens and has since the dawn of time, just have to live with it and move on. Think of it as the BSOD.

#2 I wonder, exactly how much of the program you have pointing to your local server for fonts, plot styles, and other annoying parameters, that some CAD Mangler thought was a good idea.

#3Had that issue with 2020 just yesterday, what else is new, were back to #1's issue.

I don't feel much change from 18-22, but there have been improvements, you're basically just trying to play follow the leader, instead of trying to be one. There are bumps in the road, the pavement isn't always level, and sometimes it gets a little rough. Perseverance is key to success.

If everyone had those serious issues there would be fixes issued. Obviously that is not the case. You need to be looking at your setup. Basic troubleshooting starts with a generic out of the box profile and template. If everything then works properly, work your way through your template and profile settings to find the culprits.

2022 with all the updates should be very quick. One of the reasons I upgraded sooner than I usually would have. I don't know any release that doesn't have issues. Some releases seem better than others because one particular workflow doesn't encounter any problems while in another release it does.
