Text mask

Does anyone know how to achieve a text mask as shown below? This looks much better than a white block behind the text.

That does look better. Was that done in AutoCAD or another program?

No simple method that I know of.

Here is a pretty good discussion from 2010: text-halo

(I found posts back to 2005.

I did a quick search on Map 3D Halo text but found nothing.

What are you trying to create Halo text for? The answers are different for AutoCAD objects and Civil 3D Labels.

For AutoCAD objects, you might have good luck searching the Core AutoCAD Forum.

What font do you want to use? The solutions will be different for SHX and TT fonts.

While you are thinking about it, I do have a suggestion:

  1. Change all your text masks to the default setting or RED with a 1.5 border.
  2. Work with it for several hours.
  3. Share with your colleagues.
  4. Change them back.
  5. Ask yourself if the white block is still objectionable.
(It is, but you may have become more tolerant.)
