Text colour different to selection in MTEXT

I keep getting a less defined text colour when colouring MTEXT. I know this is something simple but can't get it to work.

What is the issue? What’s a less defined color? Your black and whit images are not leaping off the screen telling me what the problem is

Hey guys, this issue was fixed due to changing the view to wireframe.  I've been working in conceptual.
