Template Reference Option Missing

I have Civil 3D 2017 installed, but the option to reference templates is missing altogether (see screenshot below). I tried to repair my install with no luck. What could be causing this?

Thanks!

Do you happen to be importing a CUI from a previous version? If so, perhaps it may not be making the button for you. Try the command "_AttachReferenceTemplate" and see if the window pops up. Hope this helps!

That worked! Any idea how I might modify my CUI to include the button? I
did bring my CUI settings from 2016. Thank you!

Cool! The CUI is a bit tricky if you haven't done it before. You might still have the factory default "Civil 3D Default" workspace still in there, so try checking to make that your default and current to get direct access. If that doesn't work try finding the original .cuix file and importing that. Once you make sure the button is in one of the workspaces, I think you can copy it to your personal workspace. I'm not a pro at custom CUIs but here are some youtube vids to get you started:

I would recommend placing your customizations all alone in a cui and keep them separate from the default Acad/C3D stuff. This way you won't lose anything if a C3D update over-writes the default CUI during an update. You will not miss any new UI changes OOTB from release to release using an outdated cui. SImply load your new cui as a partial on each pc.

That's good advice. Anyone know how I can restore the default CUI? Rather
than creating my own CUI on 2016, I just modified and renamed the default
one as my own, so I no longer have the default. Thanks everyone for the
help!

Search your folder structure for userdatacache.

Find the folder correlating to your version and you should find originals there.
