Survey Database; ERROR

Anonymous
Not applicable

I am unable to create a Survey Database or access any existing Survey Databases.
Error message;

“The survey database does not exist and could not be recreated
Source System.Data
Message: Unable to find the requested .Net Framework Data Provider. It may not be installed”

I have attempted to find the .config files from a "working:" machine but after trying some 20 other machines I have not yet found any that work.

Contacted Microsoft and attempted to download the .Net Framework (4.0, 4.5) and
and the .Net Framework FIX but these downloads would not complete...the response.... ."Net Framework already exists, the download will not complete".

Is there any other options I may try or acquire to fix this issue ?

thanks

I've got the same issue. What is in machine.config that shouldn't be?

I really don't know.

Location;

C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v4.0.30319

Autodesk has not replied to any of my inquiries. Microsoft

downloaded a .NET "fix" but to no avail.

I have now checked 38 stations "machines" and all have the

same issue.....C3D 2018 does not have a functional "Survey Database".

I would be inclined to having your IT department look at permissions considering you have 38 installations with the same issue. C3D users should have admin rights.

Is the install a standard install or a deployment?

On all machines tested we're you the log in user could this be an issue with your profile?

I am most certain it is not a permission issue..(each station individually

assigned to that user).

I did not log in as the user, rather each user logged in, and tested the

Survey Database on their C3D installation.

I believe it was a standard installation.

Thanks,

F.

I was able to use it before, but had issues with an installation of release 2018 and did the uninstall/reinstall thing with all of the .NET and C++ apps using the links for the .NET setup packages found here on the A-desk site. Since then, I never knew I had an issue since I haven't run any survey data through lately - until I saw your post and tried it.Thanks alot! Haha

I also did the .NET fix and it didn't fix it. I also tried a repair from Programs and Features but it got to a message in Spanish that when I Accpetar'd it it bombed anyways.

There are other applications out there that have similar issues, which makes me think it is a .NET thing. Why you have it on 38 machines is crazy, though. I bet that at least 37 of them did no such uninstall/reinstall with the microsoft apps.

Waiting for some input from Microsoft concerning this issue with

.NET.

Yes, your right, appears to keep going back to the same "point of Err".

Thank you for the link. I will explore it and keep all posted as to my results,

if any.

OK, I got it to work. I downloaded the setup for Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0 SP1 from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-US/Download/confirmation.aspx?id=30709

First I tried running it, but it returned an error that a later version was already installed. using Programs & Features (or Add/Remove Programs) I found SQL Server Compact 4.0 SP1 was already installed. There was no Repair option - only Uninstall. I was leery about doing so, so I did a Repair on all the 2016 SQL apps installed, then uninstalled SQL Server Compact 4.0 SP1. This time when I ran the setup it executed properly and SQL Server Compact 4.0 SP1 was re-installed.

And now the survey database works.

drenaud,

Well, IT WORKED....downloaded "Microsoft SQL Server Compact 4.0 SP1"

Ran it, in my case I must not have had an earlier version, I ran the repair

option and from all indications all is now OK.

Many thanks drenaud, for your assistance and expertise !
