Surface spot elevation label in dragged state

I'm attempting to create a surface spot elevation label style based on an example that is just mtext, leader, and a donut. I can get the label with a solid circle for the marker using the dot block in the label style and it looks good.

Typically, most surface spot elevation labels are used in the dragged state on our plans. When I drag my label, the dot block disappears.

Just as a really quick thought try setting the drag state to as composed.

Make sure you go to the Dragged State tab in the label style composer and set your leader and text how you want it there.

@rl_jackson , @Anonymous , @demus72 . I'm stumped. I cannot get a block component to stay even as composed . Have you guys been able to?

In the label style editor go to the dragged state tab.  Edit the leader for the dragged label to use the "Dot small" as the arrow head. Edit the size to match what you need and set the visibility to True.

When the label is dragged it will need to be moved far enough to accommodate the size of the dot small block or it won't be shown.

When I set everything the way I want, the leader now has a gap from the Dot insertion point block and the landing is much larger than I would prefer.

The Dot Small block does seem to work better than Dot, it doesn't create the gap between the origin and the leader. However, based on the size I specify for Dot Small, the landing is much longer than I would prefer.

I don't understand why it doesn't use the Dot block I specified for the marker when placing the label in the dragged state? Why would I need to use an arrow head style?

Ok, forget what I said before. It has the side effect of making the landing too big or small.   Surface labels have a better way for this.

Surface point labels are a two part label. One style for the style for the point label and a separate style for the "marker" . First, remove the block from the point label style. (we'll use it in the marker style) Setup a marker style using the dot block for the marker.  This will keep the marker in place when the label is dragged.

This shows the selection of the two styles when placing a point label on a surface.
