Surface Slope as an angle in degrees?

I'm trying to create a Surface Slope Label to give the slope as an angle in degrees.

Under Toolspace->Settings->Slope I have created an expression called "Angle Surface Slope".

The Expression is

1/TAN({Surface Slope})

Format result as "Angle".

Then under my surface slope style, the text contents is:

<[Angle Surface Slope(Udeg|FD|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|OF)]>

However, my slopes are all displaying as "???"

Any clues as to where I'm going wrong would be most appreciated!!

Solved.  The expression needed to be

ATAN({Surface Slope Depth}/{Surface Slope Horizontal Distance})
