Surface and Boundaries

Good Day Sir/Ma'am,

I am new in Civil 3D and I have a problem dealing with surfaces and boundaries as I cannot get the actual boundaries in the individual areas for my cross sections particularly with area cut and fill with sections having retaining walls and others. I attached screenshots showing the shape of the area fill, the boundary is in corridor shrinkwrap so I think it's the effect having the boundary extends over to the end of retaining wall hill. So I tried not to shrinkwrap and do it individually through add automatically daylight, retaining wall front, etc. but the boundaries for cut was affected and did not area it correctly. I hope you can give me solutions. thank you in advance and more power.

Hi,

Draw manually and add that to surface boundary, but make sure that surface shown on section and boundary adding both are same.

If not fixed, feel free to share file can have look and find the resolution.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Try the following concept if it will work for you. See attached Concept-ToGetVolumeBdry.dwg as a guide.

A. Insert String or Mark point to each location where you want to have Volume boundary. (Do to all SA affected)

B. Update Code Set Style to show new point code like color Red / Pink / Purple or any that will stand out.

C. Re-Build Corridor

D. Remove current outer extent boundary.

E. Add bdry using Point Code e.g. VOLBDRY

F. If you want the surface to transition abruptly then add 1mm in each start so it will look like 90 deg bend or transition.

G. Do your volume again and see how it goes.
