Anyone get as frustrated as me when trying to create sub criteria for material calcs? I've watched Jeff Bartels video but still am having difficulty Calculating Complex Material Volumes using Subcriteria in Civil 3D (youtube.com). My issue is the same as what happens at around 4:40 and afterwards in the video and I just can't get the areas to work properly
What should have taken half and hour has taken all morning so far with no sign of a resolution - I'll have to fall back on to standard surface volumes

Hi @neilyj666, when I have problems with subcriteria, I always go back to this explanation in the Autodesk Help Documentation. I think it is pretty clear. It lets us know what is or is not possible. Here, I post the link:
About Calculating Volumes for Overlapping Materials or Overhangs
I hope this helps, best regards!
I think it may have been drawing related with the xref I was using for the sampling - started from scratch again and it seems to be behaving now.
