Sub assembly Composer - Hold Variable Value Through Region

Does anyone know of a way to hold a variable through the entire region? I am attempting to hold the Baseline.Elevation value of the first station in a region and use that value throughout the calculations for the rest of the stations in that region. Seems like this should be easy to do... but my variables always get reassigned with each station. I thought about using an input parameter but Baseline.Elevation isn't something I can necessarily put into a parameter very easy (dynamically anyway).

Thanks for the help!

That's what I was afraid of. SAC is powerful but could be so much more if they would open the api just a little. Things I would love to see:

  • Open variables up to be held over regions
  • Open the Baseline class up to find values over regions e.g. Baseline.Elevation(<Station>) Baseline.Slope(Station)
  • Add region overrides to the corridor properties to override parameters in the corridor editor per region (rather than making new assembly for each region

These 3 things would open up a world of possibilities as far as keeping minimum slope and ditch depths at the same time or acquiring and using profile geometry through regions for complex grading where prior\future elevations\slopes\point data could be used to create the next cross section.

These ideas would definitely open the possibilities in SAC.  You should post these to the C3D idea board.  I’m not sure why there hasn’t been much more effort on the R&D side to improve SAC.  I agree it is a powerful complement to C3D, so hopefully SAC is going to  be a part of the AEC collection in the future.  If not maybe a Dynamo-based platform could be the direction 🤔

Thanks Mike, did as suggested and added it to the ideas section.
