Structure Label Component

In a structure label there can be several different components. Is there a way to set one of the components to "No Plot"? For example, I want to see the structure name component on my plan but I do not want to see the rim component on the plan. I just want to see the rim component in CAD while designing. I only want to create one label, not two.

Try setting the color of the rim text to be 255,255,255.

You could designate a color in your CTB file that is screened to 0% and use it for the color of the rim component.

255,255,255 may white out whatever is behind it.

I believe you can set the one component to a No plot layer or set it to a color that does not plot.

Great suggestion, except... if the label has a background mask (and mine typically do) the entire label gets the mask so there will be a large area of the drawing behind the label that is blocked by a blank space.

My mistake, the individual component I set to 255,255,255 is also able to be set not to have the mask. The only very small issue is that the text color then blocks little segments of the profile view grid behind it. But maybe if the color is screened to 0% as MMcCall402 suggests that will not be an issue. I'll give it a shot when I have time.

Once in the component properties, there is no way to have specific lines of text, or components to not plot.  You can select a specific component and change it's color to 255,255,255 as others have suggested, but what about the next line of text?  Now in your label, when it prints, the part that prints 255,255,255 will plot white over other objects, and, there will appear to be a gap between lines of text that plot block or color.  The best way to achieve this really is with multiple label styles that suppress the Rim text.  As for where you want to see the Rim component in the plan, do you want to see it in the plan view or the profile view?  If you want it in the plan view, create a new style and have that Rim component text rotated and on a no plot layer in the General Tab at the top of the style editor dialog box.  Then you'll see it but it won't plot.  If you want it in the profile view then create a separate structure label for profile labels only and customize the label style as necessary.

Thank you for the well thought out response. It is so well thought out in fact that it is the system that I am already using. Great minds... As you can imagine though, with say 20 structures that is twice the amount of label manipulation and management and this is what I'm trying to minimize. Remember back in the day when mouse clicks were bad?!

Yes I do.  I remember when Blipmode wasn't really a thing and every so often and had to run the Redraw command to get rid of them.

As for your dilemma then, I am not sure of a direct way around it.
