SSM rename renumber options greyed out

@user181 , I know what you mean. I am in a vacuum. no-one is in these files but me. Proved with WHOHAS

Is it set in the Properties of the SSM? Maybe a hierarchy?

Hi Todd, I was looking in SSM properties but nothing jumped out at me. I'll check the subset

I figured it out. You can't have the drawing open. If there is a lock, then you have the drawing open. Close the drawing, open a blank drawing, then open the SSM for that project and it should not be grayed out now.

No. I was apprehensive. I do it all the time rename layouts. its actually faster with the drawing open

Not sure which of these solutions you have tried, but this is straight from the AutoDesk help page

Solution:

• Check that the file is not open in a different AutoCAD session or another user is editing it.

• Verify that the file is not set as read-only.

• If there are DWL/DWL2 files with the same file name and in the same directory folder as the DWG in question, delete them.

• To find whether another user has the file open, issue the WHOHAS command and select the specific DWG file.

• As a test, copy the folder structure to a different location and try renaming and renumbering option again.

• Check the permissions of the folder that the DWG file is stored in and make sure that the user has full access to the folder.
