Some questions about pipe network

The pipes that I am going to draw are in mm rather than in inches. When I converted mm into inches, I still can't find a suitable diameter of pipes. I wonder how I can make the diameter more accurate.

Another question is about creating pipe network. One category only has one type of dimension for each junction. The dimension can't fit my planned pipe network without doubt. I have to change the pipe property, and the list of diameter of pipe is as 3'', 5'', but the diameter of my pipe is 4'' or 3''1/2 for example. I want change the manhole diameter, but I can't, I can only make dia bigger rather than smaller, and can't make the dia accurate as I said above.

One more question: If the pipe is made of vitrified clay, which option I can select for the pipe network?

Thank you very much for your help!

First off, it sounds like you might be using the Imperial shortcut for C3D vs. the Metric one. Then depending on the country, you should also be able to obtain the appropriate country kit, which should close some additional gaps.

Yeah, I used both to check if units are international, but both use inches. That's strange.

If that's the case you need to start over, open C3D from the imperial shortcut for feet and metric shortcut for meters. Use a dwt that is appriopriate for feet (imperial) or meters (metric) nothing in C3D should be set to inches or millimeters.

My file is dwg. When I opened the file in Civil 3D metric, the units are feet. I can convert that into meters, but when it comes to selecting pipe network, the units are always inch.

If I start C3D with the Metric Shortcut and choose the NCS Metric DWT, it uses Metric pipes. If your template is showing inches, you have set it up incorrectly if your using meters, there should be no conversion necessary.

So I can do a set-up for units of templates?

Hi @Anonymous

Beside the DWT Templates; there are two Pipe network catalogs as well!
On the Home ribbon, expand the Create Design panel and select the Set Pipe Network Catalog, confirm the pipe catalog is the metric one!

hope this helps,

Ok, thanks. Do you know how I can add more types of structures under pipe creation-pipe structure? Like 30 mm, 60 mm, 90 mm concrete rectangular box culvert headwall. I only have one specific diameter for each type of pipe.
