Some great tips for surface lovers

Hi, I've had this sitting in my bookmarks for some time - if you want a good discussion of the various surface settings etc. in Civil3d  then it's worth grabbing a coffee and scrolling through this one:

Mick,

Excellent! I discovered that a month or two ago myself and quickly bookmarked it. Best treatment of C3D Surfaces I've found.

Hi Dave, yes one of those resources that deserves some time to read - and I only got to do it the other day. There's very little good information around that explores the various settings and gives good strategies for generating a fully featured surface. I learnt a few new things even though I thought I'd pretty much got my head around everything.

This looks great....it'll take a few coffees (perhaps beers as it's the weekend) to go through it.

It's a little reminiscent of the pdf's supplied in earlier versions of Civil before they all went html.

@neilyj666 As well written as it is, and as much as surfaces are part of my daily work, I still think I'd be asleep after my second beer. I recommend the coffee, then go for the beer later - to assist with reflecting on your learning experience Smiley Wink

I find the autodesk help/tutorial/how to resources are surprisingly poor. I remember the step by step tutorials being particularly unfriendly - just simply a recipe with no real discussion of why a certain sequence was recommended. I find that it is dead simple to google a simple command and use it. The key challenge for new users is knowing the strategy for getting to an end product efficiently/elegantly and picking out of the multitude of ways that the same thing can potentially be achieved.
