Segmenting point cloud from within 3D object

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hey all,

I've imported LiDAR data (point cloud) into Civil 3D and I wish to segment all points which fall inside a 3D object (cylinder/prism) from the point cloud, then export these points as a new point cloud file.

What is the best method/workflow to do this?

Thanks,

Hi @Anonymous

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD Civil 3D forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Please review these threads Point Cloud Workflow Point Clouds, and Point Groups,  and Query point cloud boundary then add all the points within the boundary to see if they offer a solution to your question and a possible workflow.

This information will help you with importing point clouds into Civil 3D, apply a border and use a point filter to place points into groups allowing you to export points to a new point cloud file. Hope this helps!
