Section views and New Alignment

Can section view sample lines be set to another alignment? I needed to re-align my source dwg road CL, where my Alignments, Surface and Corridors are. My section views reside on a separate drawing based on the old road alignment. I data shortcut in the new road alignment but I don't see a way to set my sample lines to this ALG, short of making the same ALG name but I believe if I delete the old alignment the sections views will go too.

Hi @RobertEVs, I think you can do that in this way.

1. Create a DREF (Data Shortcut) for your new Alignment.

2. Open the drawing where your old Alignment resides. If your old Alignment relies on a Data Shortcut, break this dependency by promoting the Alignment.

3. Make sure to set the correct working folder and the data shortcuts project (where your new Alignment DREF resides). Then associate the old drawing with this data shortcut project.

4. Open the Manage Data Shortcuts window here:

5. To the left, you'll find the drawing objects, and to the right, the data shortcuts. Look for both the old Alignment and the new one at the left and right windows, respectively. Just click on them and then hit the linking button.

This will make the old Alignment now be converted again to a DREF, but this time will rely on the data shortcut you created for the new Alignment. I already tried with two alignments on my own, and it worked.

As you can notice, it didn't lose the sample lines. Try it and let us know.

I hope this helps. Best regards!
