Roadway Typical Section Block

Hi,

I have been getting into roadway extensions more recently and therefore have had to show typical section details with every plan set. Currently, the way I create a detail for the typical section is essentially tracing over my subassembly that I use in the corridor with polylines, copying it over to my details sheet, then cleaning it up. Has anyone heard of a block that can give you the basis of a roadway section? Something with checkboxes or options where you can pick something like number of lanes, width of lanes, curb & gutter, walks, etc? I'm imagining something with maybe a ton of visibility states (or something more elegant than that, IDK I am just spitballing here). I was going to start trying to create one but I figured I would see if anyone else has seen it elsewhere on the forums first.

Or you can set up a codeset style and cross section view to display your typicals. I don’t as much as I should could but that would actually typical

We do have a code set style but the local municipalities require more detail than what those show and the items they want called out in the cross sections (via the code set styles) is often a little different compared to what they ask for in the details so utilizing those isn't really a good option unfortunately.

I was suggesting to simply get the section what ever specialized drafting can be done on top.

Also, to you recent point. there are ways to have a code set dimension lanes and label section item with your projects specific pay items. Is it worth the effort to get it that way? I'm not sure, but getting a typical section from your corridor is simple. and drafting over them is just as simple

Hi @b.johnson.4204, I agree with @Joe-Bouza on having a code set style for that. However, I remember in my home country, we used to work with Unnamed St – Streetmix when we wanted a more visually appealing typical section for urban contexts.

You might have to go through the process of creating those blocks according to your needs if the code style and corridor section views do not meet the requirements you are looking for.

What I usually do here in Winnipeg is that I have a code set style that has the line types and shape styles (hatch) I need. I do not use C3D labels. Instead, I use that "clean" section view to add as much information as I want.
