So, if your old structure names are like 45, 46, 47... You would like to change to Prefix45, Prefix46, Prefix 47. Think it is possible. Prefix should be defined in prefix edit-box and counter should started as 45. But if your structure sequence does not follow exact rules of counter (counter + increment), for example 45,47, 53... then think that it is not possible. The only way is to rename structure by structure through structure properties where you can define any name (of course with the respecting of rule that the name should be unique).

Well it don't resolve the problem at hand. IS there a way to remove any name prefix from Civil3d.
When I import it has XXX-01-C001 , XXX-01-C002 and what I would like to retain would be C001, C002 ?

Well, this is another different problem. Don't see the solution with OOTB C3D functionality.

If I were you this problem would try to solve with export/import procedure. If you export network to some external source then you can change structure names by 'search and replace' mechanism. Then you can import back the network with new structure names.

SDF/SHP is a bit clumsy. My favourite would be LandXML. Export network to LandXML, with some editor ( i.e. firstobject xml editor) replace XXX-01- with empty string and then import back LandXML. Of course erase the old network before (save before original drawing ☺).
Don't be afraid of bit unreadable xml format. If the prefix is constant, search and replace procedure will do the job.

Everything above I didn't check - writing from my mobile. If you would like I can check on your drawing if you attach it (if it is a problem send me through DG private message)

For this type of renaming I would set the Name: to be "C<[Next Counter]>" with the Number Style as "001,002,003..." , starting number as 1 and name conflict set to 'rename existing parts'.

Structure names need to be unique so renaming a selection of parts has to include a <[Next Counter]> component.
